ONS Youth Summit
The ONS Youth Leadership Council (YLC) will host the annual Youth Summit on Saturday, October 15th. The Summit is an opportunity to learn how YLC utilized a participatory budgeting process to identify youth priorities for community safety projects. Admission is free, so join us for a day of advocacy, fellowship, and fun!
The YLC participatory budgeting process is an initiative that solicits youth feedback to develop local projects across MAP communities in NYCHA. To implement this initiative, Council members first designed a ballot highlighting six project options under four major categories: Physical Space, Economic Stability, Health and Wellbeing, and Safety and Justice. For several weeks, NYCHA residents ages 13-24 cast their ballots, indicating their top choice for one public spending project. This Saturday, YLC will announce the winning project and discuss implementation plans. Download and read the brochure to learn more.
