Welcome to Patterson Chooses!

Local NStat Winning Project:

Safety and Justice | Community/Police Relations

The Patterson community voted to invest $30,000 in projects designed to improve interactions between law enforcement and community members. In 2022, Patterson residents will partner with local organizations and city agencies to design and implement safety interventions, including:

  • Intergenerational healing events that build relationships between young people and older adults, and
  • Listening tours that invite police to learn about local public safety priorities from community leaders.

All Project Proposals

Physical Space | Improvements to Play + Green Spaces

This project is an opportunity to renovate play & green spaces. Spaces will be co-designed with residents by hosting design workshops, identifying priority spaces, and creating stewardship groups. Upgrades could include vibrant murals that reflect the neighborhood, new benches, gardens, signage, skate ramps, fitness equipment, or more.

Economic Stability | Education & Job Training Programs

This project aims to connect education and job training to long-term, stable careers through on-site college fairs, youth mentorship, career coaching, subsidized apprenticeship programs, and events offering funding opportunities for education & entrepreneurial start-ups.

Health and Well-being | More Healthy Food

This project focuses on increasing access to fresh, nutritious, and affordable food through a variety of strategies, including food justice education and awareness campaigns to improve quality of food in local markets; food programming like cooking demos, pop up juice bars, and community dinners.

Youth Development | Youth Designed Projects

This project will co-create programming by youth for youth. Possibilities may include: arts & entrepreneurship programs; mentorships that address trauma, healing circles, or peer-to-peer support groups; life skills training from financial management to healthy relationships; and expanded networks to help youth access a wider range of opportunities.
