Economic Stability | Education and Job Training Programs

The Castle Hill community voted to invest $30,000 in projects designed to provide residents with long term, stable careers. In 2022, Castle Hill residents will partner with local organizations and city agencies to provide residents with academic and skillset training opportunities, including:

  • College fairs,
  • Youth mentorship,
  • Career coaching,
  • Subsidized apprenticeship programs, and
  • Funding opportunities for education & entrepreneurial start-ups.

All Project Proposals

Project 1: Physical Space | Improvements to Play and Green Spaces

This project is an opportunity to renovate play spaces and green spaces. Public areas will be co-designed with residents and local partners by hosting design workshops, identifying priority spaces, and creating stewardship groups. Upgrades to these spaces can include vibrant murals that reflect the culture of the neighborhood, new seating benches, gardens, signage, skate ramps, fitness equipment, and more.

Project 3: Health and Well-being | Holistic Health Training

This project is an opportunity to renovate play spaces and green spaces. Project 4: Safety and Justice | Reduce Gun Violence

This project aims to increase community-based support to prevent and respond to gun violence by supporting mini-grants that center community-led strategies; providing training on peacemaking practices and restorative justice; organizing inter-generational healing events and providing access to therapeutic services.

Project 5: Youth Development | Youth Designed Projects

This project will co-create programming by youth, for youth. There will be a range of opportunities, including arts and entrepreneurship programs; mentorship options to address trauma and provide healing circles, or peer-to-peer support groups; life skills training on financial management and healthy relationships; and expanded networks for youth to access a wider range of resources.
